ECOFLO® Treatment, Storage and Disposal Facility
ECOFLO's fully permitted RCRA Part B treatment,
storage and disposal facility in Greensboro, North Carolina receives both
drummed and bulk quantity waste materials. The three acre waste treatment plant
was designed to benefit ECOFLO's customers in several ways.
Key Benefits
- Minimization of long-term liabilities. The plant
engineering is state of the art, thus reducing both the probability of an
incident and its impact should one occur.
- Permit Status. ECOFLO's final RCRA Part B permit
assures users that the history of the site has not created any risks that
might affect current generators.
- Responsiveness. We are able to promptly process
customer requests for removal services due to our extensive generic approval
database and manifest termination capability.
- Efficient handling of less than truckload
quantities. Our storage and consolidation capabilities afford the opportunity
to reduce costs.
Designed to Ensure Efficiency, Safety and
Accountability:
The TSDF consists of a 40,000 square foot masonry
building with environmental permits to store up to 1,254 55 gallon drums and a
70,000 gallon tank farm with permitted capacity to process over 30,000 gallons
of aqueous and organic waste per day.
- Special Features:
- Fuels blending operations. The decant area is
completely contained and protected from fire by infrared detectors and a
foam delivery system. Organic liquids and sludges in bulk quantities or
drums are processed into supplemental fuel according to predetermined
specifications for destruction at cement kilns.
- Quality control laboratory. ECOFLO®
has analytical capabilities for testing all materials received for fuels
blending, including the following parameters: pH, BTU, halogen content, PCB
content, and flash point.
- Zero discharge facility. The tank farm includes 3
phase layer tanks and 4 agitated blend tanks. All tanks are nitrogen
blanketed and have high level alarms with automatic feed cut offs. Fire
protection consists of an infrared fire detection system and foam sprinkler
systems. All rainwater that accumulates in outside diked areas is collected,
pumped into the tank farm, and treated as hazardous waste.
- Frequent compliance audits. On-site inspections
are conducted 6 times per month by our resident inspector from the North
Carolina Department of Environment, Health and Natural Resources, thus
ensuring the secure and proper management of all waste materials received
and the overall compliance of our operations.
