Two weeks ago, my husband and I lost our house to fire. The place we have moved into was where all old TV’s went to die. So on Tuesday, my dad and I loaded up the truck and headed to ECOFLO, not knowing that they were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. That’s when we met Kenneth Webb. He was in the parking lot and after explaining our situation, went and talked with the gentleman that takes residential waste and they so very nicely took care of us even though they were closed. Went so far as to unload the TVs. I am in the customer service business and love when I find a company that believes in providing the best. That being said, please make sure you go and visit Wednesday through Friday! Thanks Kenneth and Ronelle for making a bad situation a little better!

ECOFLO’s Service Awards Program rewards employees for their service by giving them a monetary award commencing at their one year anniversary as well as a day off beginning at their third anniversary. Melvin is pictured with Paul McAllister, President and CEO, receiving a check for $1,500 for his thirty years of service.

On April 17, Melvin Bivens celebrated his 30th Anniversary with ECOFLO.  Melvin is the longest –tenured ECOFLO employee, joining the Company when it was barely six months old.

Over the years Melvin has served ECOFLO in a number of different roles. However, it is as a Field Chemist that he has made his greatest contribution not only to ECOFLO but to our customers.

We have received numerous commendations from our customers as a result of the service Melvin has provided them and it is one of the reasons our customers ask us back.

Thank you Melvin for a job well done. “Let’s keep on truckin’”!

A lot of Americans are fed up with politics. Too many, politics ….and politicians…..have become synonymous with bickering, talking out of both sides of their mouths, saying what they think you want to hear, and furthering their own agendas at the expense of those they serve. There’s the old joke about politicians and how you know when they are lying? “When their lips are moving”.
Watching our Federal as well as many state and local governments in action can be a very frustrating experience. However, at the end of the day, the machinery in Washington, as well as at the state and local level, have taken on many challenges and met them successfully. The recent death of Astronaut Neil Armstrong vividly brought to mind his setting foot on the moon. His achievement was the culmination of President John F. Kennedy’s proclamation that by the end of the 1960’s we would have a man on the moon. That statement, and the mustering of resources that made it happen, not only united Americans but also created the impetus for hundred of inventions that help us in our everyday lives.

One may not like everything that our leaders do. That is understandable. However, what may not go appreciated is the fact that in this country, you can publicly voice your opinion without being incarcerated or even sentenced to death. Many Americans have fought and lost their lives so that we may all enjoy this freedom. Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of Great Britain, recently said on a TV show, that “the measure of your country is whether more people are trying to get in than get out”. Commenting on the protests against the United States in Libya and Egypt, he commented that underlying the sentiment of the people in those countries who are protesting is a jealousy towards the United States and the desire to have what we, Americans, enjoy.

In a few weeks you have the opportunity to exercise one of our most precious rights as Americans, the right to vote. It is your chance to voice your opinion about who governs you and how you would like to be governed. If you don’t take advantage of this right, you have belittled the sacrifices of many Americans who fought to preserve it and in many ways, will have forfeited your right to be critical of your government. If you have any doubt about this, keep in mind what Edmund Burke, an Irishman who became a member of Great Britain’s Parliament and supporter of the American Revolution said. “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men (and women) to do nothing”.

ECOFLO has initiated a challenge to its employees to participate in a wellness challenge. The employees will be grouped into teams and earn points by exercising, eating healthy and removing stress from their lives. In honor of winning the team challenge, ECOFLO will make a donation to Greensboro Urban Ministry on the winning teams behalf!

The Greensboro Urban Ministry organization provides crisis intervention and emergency services through the basics of food and shelter. They also work to help people break the cycles of poverty, hunger, addiction and homelessness.

SWANA has been organized for over 40 years and currently holds 7200 members. SWANA are leaders in the solid waste field with continued focus to advance the environmental and economic aspects of solid waste management.

Mr Webb will be discussing “house hold hazardous waste collection and processing” as well as touching on the topic of “electronics recycling”.
