Batteries (Ni-Cad, Alkaline, Lead Acid, Cadmium, Lithium Ion, Car Batteries, Mercury)

These are sent to foundries to recover the metals for reuse

Fluorescent Light Bulbs, CFL Bulbs

Bulbs are sent to processing facilities where the glass, aluminum, and phosphorous powder are separated. The powder is sent to a retorting facility to recover the mercury for reuse.

Latex Paint

Latex paint is sent to paint re-processing facilities for re-manufacture into new paint. Paint that is unusable for re-manufacturing is used as and additive in cement.
